With a short winter, fresh flower filled springs and mild summers Menaggio is an ideal location for family holidays. The good sunshine lets you get out and about to enjoy the town and its lovely surrounds.
WHAT TO DO:
Biking and trekking: Menaggio is the perfect starting for numerous walks and biking trails into the Lombardy countryside. From the town you reach Rifugio Menaggio and indulge in the spectacular views of the lake from the southern slope of Mont Grona. The Val Sanagra Park, Lake Piano and Monti di Nava, among other lovely locations, are all open to you from Menaggio.
For kids there is a fun and informative puzzle tour through the town. Each child is given a question and drawing sheet which lets them explore and discover the wonderful life and history of Menaggio.
If you would like a different type of challenge go a round on one of the oldest golf courses in Europe in the shape of the Menaggio and Cadenabbia club. Dating from 1907 it has a sumptuous clubhouse filled with over a 100 years of history and class.
Of course, being in Italy, you will find an array of restaurants and trattoria which serve excellent local food.
Due to its central position along the lake Menaggio is easily accessible by car or public transport.
By car: Menaggio is only 80km from Milan and 27km from Lugano. From either Bellagio or Varenna you can take the car ferry service across the lake to Menaggio.
